The only advantage of human is there are many of them, human has no special ability like dwarf and elf who live long, has special traits and has trained in many things. human is simple, everyone second best friend is what human is. human get along with along with almost everyone (and can breed with many of them; producing half-elf,half-orc,or tiefling).
5. Halfling. The diminutive halflings survive in a world full of larger creatures by avoiding notice or, barring that, avoiding offense. Standing about 3 feet tall, they appear relatively harmless and so have managed to survive for centuries in the shadow of empires and on the edges of wars and political strife. (player handbook 5e)
Halfling also know as Hobbit, they are small, brave and nimble, perfect for scouting and stealing. yes STEALING, that’s why Gandalf and the 13 dwarves hired Bilbo in the hobbit. So if you want to make a stealthy thief character you can chose halfling as the best race for the job.
