“Life is not fair”.
Once upon a time, i spent hours working in homework that ended in vain, because the lecturer want us do something else. Is it Fair ? who knows. But i can put this unfairness in my DnD story to become a good plot, the story start when the party travel between town to find a way to a new land. the party receive a quest from a village to save their guards who goes on patrol and disappear. after saving the guards in a ancient prison cave the party come back to the village. the party find out that the prisoner of the ancient prison cave that escape (because the paladin greed) has destroy the village. The party finds the village elder (who gave the quest) still alive, and cursing the party because they release the ancient monster. the party who consist a Chaotic evil warlock, Lawful evil sorcerer, true Neutral paladin, and 2 other that pass out (not involved in the decision making) chose to kill the village elder, and all survivor in the village.
No Witness
the party can never be prosecuted for killing and looting a whole village. there is only few justice in medieval setting.
Who can stop a high level adventurers with magical weapons ?.
